Dear Highland Park Resident,

Welcome.  On behalf of our neighborhood association, I want to welcome you to the Highland Park neighborhood.

If you are new to the area, Id like you to know that youve chosen an excellent neighborhood.  Our neighborhood is large.  Nearly 9,000 people live within our boundaries -- so were almost a small town.

Our Schools and ... We have four excellent elementary schools -- Cattell, Finley, Madison, and Oak Park -- along with Harding Middle School and North High School within or adjacent to our boundaries.  Our shopping village at Sixth and Euclid Avenues recently underwent a $1.2 million streetscape project and Park Fair Mall was Iowas first enclosed shopping mall.  Our neighborhood is home to an amazing variety of large and small businesses, clubs, fraternal groups, and churches.

Meetings and Events.
Our association meets every month to:
     Plan events,
     Discuss neighborhood concerns, and
Hear from our elected officials and city department heads.
Each year we participate in a city-wide volunteer program by pitching in to fix up a home in our neighborhood.  We also sponsor an Annual Scrub Day to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of large unwanted items, such as tires and brush, at no charge.  Each December, we host a neighborhood celebration and craft sale at Park Fair Mall.

Meet Your Neighbors.  You are invited to attend all of our meetings.  We hold them the second Tuesday of the month in the Senior Center in the lower level of Park Fair Mall, Second and Euclid.  Your $5 annual dues entitle you to:

     Vote at our meetings,

     Receive our quarterly newsletter, and

Bask in the satisfaction of knowing that you and your hundreds of neighbors are working to make our neighborhood and city a better place to live.

If our association can be of use to you, dont hesitate to call or write.

John Morrissey
