We're Back. After a brief hiatus, our Highland Park Farmers Market re-opened June 4, 2009 at 4 pm -- back where the market originally began And where many park residents feel it belongs -- on Sixth Avenue, between Euclid and Douglas. Every vendor currently resides on the shady side of the street. The sun gets quite warm on the opposite side of the street.
Need a Snack? No need to cook dinner on Thursday evenings.
Extensive Menu. Good selection to choose from. Heavy on the barbecue choices. This is not the same Mr. Bibbs that operates down the hill right next to North High, another Highland Park Restaurant with exactly the same name. Go figure.
Mr. Bibbs' Neighbor. We didn't have time to interview all the vendors. So we have no idea exactly what this gentleman sells. We'll provide more details in a later report. (We found out one week later. This is Mosaic Treasures. One of our regular Sixth Avenue businesses.)
Another Vendor. Not exactly sure what she's selling, but she's located next to the Northridge Baptist Church. More details to come.
Wine Vendor. No doubt what this gentleman sells. We tried to talk him into a personal wine tasting seminar, no dice. We'll keep trying.
A Familiar Face. One of our original vendors, she's talking to this customer about rugs made from tube socks.
Pickle Vendor. Here we see a gentleman offering homemade pickles of many types -- some recognizable, some not.
Iowa-Grown Fresh Produce. It's quite early for home-gown Iowa produce, but you could find it at our first market of the year. We picked up some hothouse tomatoes.
Baked Goods. Want fresh baked bread, fruit pies, or cookies? You could find them at Norm's location.
Repeat. We visited them earlier. I still can't figure out what they're selling. More details later.
Not Selling Popcorn. And not selling Marlboros. I couldn't figure out exactly what they were selling. More info later.
More Garden Produce. If you wanted Iowa grown produce, you could find it.
Another Unknown Vendor. More details to come.
Another Baker. If you wanted dessert, no prob.
And More Produce. Lots of Iowa-grown produce choices.
Strange Appliances. She was selling clips that control bra straps. Not a bad crowd here.
Plenty More Produce. Lots of choices.
Also a Good Place To Meet and Greet. Our Highland Park Farmers Market also provides an excellent place to shmooze with your neighbors. See you there next Thursday.
