Keep Library Open, Restore Hours
City plans are to merge the North Side and Forest Avenue
libraries, closing both locations and opening a library at a
new site at some point. The first step at merging begins
June 1 with cutting 5 positions between the two branches and
merging administrative duties, cutting evening and Saturday
hours and eliminating Friday hours at Forest. All of this
has been happening without public input. A meeting for
public comment will be held with the Library Board of
Trustees on Tuesday, May 11, beginning at 6 p.m. at the
North Side Library. The Mayor and city council members have
been invited. Please plan to attend this very important
meeting! You can also send your comments to
