Turning on Our HP Lights

On May 17, 2009 approximately a dozen volunteers showed up to plant flowers in the 22 flower pots distributed in the Sixth and Euclid Streetscape.  Terry Lillie procured the flowers from the Des Moines Botanical Center.  These pictures were taken May 17, 2009.  We'll take more photos in a month to illustrate their growth.

These two pots are located at the base of the arch in front of Aqualand.  May 17.

Same pot June 13.  Petunias really starting to fill in.

In front of Hiland Park Hardware.  May 17.

Same pot June 13.  Marigolds growing like weeds.

In front of Mosaic Treasures.  May 17.

Same pot June 13.  Someones addeda hosta.  Not sure how it will do in the morning sun.

In the meantime, Linda has had her pots planted professionally.

Looking like professional arrangements (because they are).

One more.

Linda also had her florist fill in the area where the daylilies had been tromped over the winter.

Plus she keeps an urban herb garden.

Here's six more assorted examples June 14.  Ageratums blooming in back.  Many more coming in season .
